The mission of the Works and Operations Department is to make Flin Flon a better place to live through innovative development, maintenance, enhancement, and renewal of current infrastructure. We will strive to improve transportation services, potable water treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, land drainage, and solid waste services. The department will perform its duties in a fiscally responsible, sustainable, and efficient manner while meeting Provincial and Federal legislation. We aim to inspire the trust and respect of our citizens.
The Works and Operations Department is broken into two sub categories: Public Works and Utilities and in all consists of 26 employees including one director, two foreman, two senior Waste Water Treatment Plant operators, and 21 CUPE Local 228 employees.
The Utility Department, in general, is responsible for potable water treatment, storage, distribution, sewage collection, treatment, and disposal. This department has 10 employees with varying levels of water and wastewater certification.
The Public Works Department is responsible for all road maintenance, sidewalk maintenance, storm drainage, signage, equipment maintenance, and solid waste disposal, including the landfill.
