Festivals

Bust the Winter Blues Festival:

Bust the Winter Blues is a three day family fun event. This community festival has something for all ages, from an adult trivia night, family dance, traditional games, ice fishing, seniors cards, skating, pony rides/sleigh rides to a bonfire, hot chocolate and warm bowl of chili (just to list a few activities).

Flin Flon Trout Festival:

The Trout Festival is an annual event held in Flin Flon at the end of June, including July 1. For more information, please see the Trout Festival website: http://www.flinflontroutfestival.com

Highlights of the 2011 Trout Festival include:

Seniors Day:  June 30 - hosted by Flin Flon Parks and Recreation starting at 11 am at the Flin Flon Community Hall.

RNWMP Post Museum Opening:  June 30 (9 am to 6 pm) in Creighton - bouncy castle, free cake and refreshments, petting zoo, party with Paucho, kids games, and prizes.

Family Dance:  June 30 - hosted by the Kinette Club at Kin Park - bring the kids and dance the night away from 8 pm to midnight before the fireworks!

Canada Day Celebration:  July 1 - fireworks at midnight on June 30 and on July 1 there is a free pancake breakfast at Creekside Park hosted by the Flin Flon Rotary Club from 8 to 10 am, followed by the Canada Day Parade. In the afternoon the focus shifts to Creighton Ball Diamond with events in the evening in Denare Beach.

Main Street Days:  July 2 and 3 - fun on Flin Flon's Main Street co-ordinated by the Business Builders Association. Featuring free bannock brunch (July 2 from 11 am to 1 pm, free pancake breakfast (July 2 from 8 to 10 am at Rotary Park hosted by the Flin Flon Rotary Club), live stage entertainment, food/game/product booths, Magic by Ryan Price ( www.ryanpricemagic.com), sidewalk sales, old car rally, dunk tank, Native story teller, bouncy houses, and much more!

Battle of the Bands:  July 2 - sponsored by Dave Gunn and the Trout Festival - first band takes the stage at 4 pm. Call Dave at (204) 687-3526 for more information.

Flin Flon's Amazing Race:  July 3 - Think you've got what it takes to win Flin Flon's Amazing Race? Pick up an entry form at Standard Insurance in Flin Flon or Creighton before June 18 to enter. First prize is return flights for the winning team plus $500 cash, $300 for 2nd and $200 for 3rd.

Beat the Chief Competition:  July 3 (10 am) at the Flin Flon Fire Hall - come and watch our local firemen try to beat the Fire Chief!

Canoe Races:  July 3 (12 noon to 4 pm) at Ross Lake - contact Rick for more information -  (204) 687-6651.

Trout Festival Golf Tournament:  July 3 - hosted by the Pro Shop - held at Phantom Lake Golf Course - includes steak dinner and prizes - call (306) 688-5555 to enter.

Annual Fish Fry:  July 3 - get your groove on with Groove Kitchen with special guests High Noon. Two bands that promise a night full of music that you can dance to and the fish is back by popular demand! Fresh walleye!

Art Show Exhibit:  The Flin Flon Arts Council and the Flin Flon Station Museum bring the works of David Thompson to the basement of the Co-op from June 28 to July 3 (12 noon to 6 pm), closed Canada Day.
