Facilities

The Flin Flon Parks and Recreation Commission has several facilities under its jurisdiction:

Affiliated Facilities / Curling Clubs
The Uptown Curling Club and Willowpark Curling Club operate solely through their respective board of directors, but do liaise with Parks and Recreation dealing with lease arrangements, grants, and capital projects.

Ball Parks
Centoba Park currently has four fastball diamonds for use. Major renovations at Centoba Park have occurred with still more plans being made to improve the field conditions. Also available for fastball or hardball is Lakeside Park.

Foster Park
A 250 meter track is used by local track and field groups, the Flin Flon School Division, and for special events. This track was resurfaced in 2009.

Outdoor Rinks
Outdoor rinks are currently in existence at Birchview, North Avenue, Centennial, South Hudson, Dominion, Alder, Creekside, and the Trailer Court. The flooding is done by staff, but the day-to-day shoveling and cleaning is to be carried out by local residents. The rinks are usually in operation from December to March as weather permits.

Parks – Playgrounds – Grass Areas

Fifteen children's playgrounds are maintained by Parks staff as are several green areas scattered throughout the city. Many of these playgrounds were updated in 2009/2010 including new sod and play structures. Flower planting is carried out by staff.

Wading Pools
Willowvale Pool and Rotary Pool (Rotary Club) are the wading pools operated by the Parks and Recreation Commission. These pools normally operate from July 2 to August 28. Willowvale (off Green Street) hours are from 12 to 6 pm and Rotary (off Third Avenue) hours are 11:15 am to 6:00 pm.

Flin Flon Station Museum
The Flin Flon Station Museum is housed in the former Canadian National Railway Station. It exhibits items from the pioneering period as well as tools and minerals belonging to Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting. It provides an overview of Flin Flon to visitors interested in the unique history. Located at the Tourist Bureau Park on Highway 10 in Flin Flon, the Station Museum opens for the summer season around the beginning of June till after the September long weekend. You can reach the museum at (204) 687-2946.
